Mt. Sutro Tail Complex

There are many beautiful walking trails in San Francisco that get a lot of well-deserved attention, mostly in Lands End and the Presidio.  However, because of the fact that Mount Sutro does not have very clear views of the city from the summit, it is much less visited, and has a much wilder feel.

For me, that's a plus!  The Mount Sutro trail complex is one of the most amazing cluster of forested trails in any urban center.  Covered in a thick eucalyptus forest, Mt Sutro's trails are short, and can be done in a morning or an afternoon.  However, some of the trails, such as the ascent from Moraga Hill to Mt. Sutro can have some considerable elevation gain in a short stretch, such as the long flight of stairs that connects you from the inner sunset to the historic trail.
